| Bug detectors and wiretap detectors | Why do you need wiretap detector | Models offered |
Wiretap detectors are devices that detect when someone connects to your phone line or disconnects from it, thus letting you know when there is a wiretapping device on your phone line, i.e. whether your phone conversation is being recorded or listened to.
Bug detectors, also known as radio frequency detectors (RF detectors) or microwave detectors, are devices that detect presence of radio transmitters. Radio transmitters are part of many listening devices.
So, some eavesdropping devices can be detected by wiretap detectors, while other devices can be found by bug detectors.
| It is not possible to detect or defeat all means and types of eavesdropping without a complete physical inspection of the premises, includung entire telephone system and electrical wiring from end to end. |
There are also complete anti-eavesdropping, or sweeping systems, which include bug detectors and wiretap detectors.
Protect your privacy! You never know when someone might be eavesdropping on you. It might be your neighbor you feud with, it might be dishonest employee of phone company, it might be computer hacker, it might be unscrupulous private investigator or even representative of one of the numerous law enforcement agencies.
There are many reasons why anyone might want to spy on you. They range from personal vendetta to commercial espionage, and include attempts of identity theft and "legitimate" wiretaps.
When someone "bugs" your phone line, not only your conversations might be heard and recorded. Your faxes might be intercepted. If you use dial-up internet connection, all of your online communications, including e-mails, chats and web pages you visited can fall prey to a hacker.
You might think that there are very strict laws regulating wiretaps, so, it is virtually impossible to get a court order authorizing wiretap. Wrong! Especially after September 11, the judge wouldn't think twice signing an order based on weak arguments. Anyway, judges are not on your side. And besides, do you really believe that all the requests for searches and wiretaps are truthful?
To say it short, you cannot rely on law enforcement to protect your privacy. You need to do it yourself.
