Documents acceptable as proof that you are an adult

General rules

The basic rule is that you need to present copies of two documents that are not normally stored in the same place, so, they cannot be "borrowed" together. At least one of these documents must be your Photo ID. Details on Photo ID are below.

Second document might be whether any notarized document, or copy of something that is hard to forge. See below for requitements on secondary proof other than notarized document.

Examples of acceptable Photo ID/secondary document pair :

• Any form of Photo ID and birth certificate;
• Any form of Photo ID and several month old credit card bill;
• Any form of Photo ID and marriage certificate or divorse certificate;
• Photo ID that is not normally stored in the wallet (such as US Passport) and credit card;
• Photo ID that is not normally stored in the wallet and voided personal check;
• Driver's License and military ID that clearly states it is issued to reservist;
• Any form of Photo ID and car title (document that establishes car's owner).

Examples of NOT acceptable Photo ID/secondary document pair :

• Driver's License and credit card (are usually stored in the same wallet);
• Driver's License and Social Security card.

Below is an example of Photo ID/secondary document pair that might be acceptable or not acceptable depending on your country of residence :

• Passport and credit card (in some countries, such as US, passport is not primary form of ID, and is not carried in a wallet, so, it's acceptable; in other countries it is primary form of ID, and is carried in a wallet, so, it's not acceptable).

These lists are not exhaustive. Please, use your common sense when choosing acceptable proof. You might add a note to your application explaining why documents you presented should be accepted.

We might, at our sole discretion, accept or reject documents not on these lists. In this case you will be able to supply additional proof.

Copy of your photo ID

Copy of your photo ID should be high-quality, so security features could be seen and examined. It should show your photo and date of birth, as well as number and your signature. All these elements must be legible.

If some of these elements cannot be found on single page, for example, on passports issued by some countries, please, provide photocopies of several pages. Make sure they can be identified as belonging to the same document by matching document numbers.

Expired ID is OK. Enlargements are OK. Photocopy of photocopy will not be accepted.

Copy of secondary document

Copy of secondary document should be high-quality, so security features could be seen and examined. It should be clearly linked by name and/or date of birth to the Photo ID. All these elements must be legible.

Enlargements are OK. Photocopy of photocopy will not be accepted.

Expired documents are OK, unless stated otherwise.

Below are some examples of acceptable secondary documents. Please, keep in mind that not every combination of Photo ID and acceptable secondary document makes acceptable proof.

• Another form of Photo ID;
• Birth certificate;
• Diploma issued by recognized educational institution that was never hanged on the wall (will check for nail holes and uneven fading caused by frame);
• Marriage certificate or divorse certificate;
• Unexpired credit card (remember that in this case Photo ID must be of the type that is not normally carried in the wallet);
• Several months old credit card bill or bank statement. Feel free to black out account number and transactions, but leave enough info to identify document and check its authenticity.

Documents listed below are NOT acceptable.

• Credit card bill or bank statement that is less than two months old (it might be taken from mailbox without owner's permission);
• Phone or utility bill;
• Prescription signed by your doctor;
• Store receipt;
• Tax return or your correspondence with IRS;
• Paycheck stub.

These lists are not exhaustive. Please, use your common sense when choosing secondary document.

We might, at our sole discretion, accept or reject document not on these lists. In this case you will be able to supply additional proof.

Remember that if you are supplying copy of secondary document instead of notarized paper, you will need to sign three times on the copy of Photo ID.

Notarized document

You can notarize any document. Below we had provided you with a sample. All you have to do is to enter your name, fictitious case number, and fictitious name of law firm, and then hit the Submit button. You will be redirected to a page with prepared document. You will need to print it, and then use your browser's Back button to return to this page.

Don't sign it, because you need to sign it in the presense of Notary Public.
